Hey! I'm Mikayla, the owner of Sunkist Media. Photography has always been a passion of mine. I started Sunkist Media because as someone that use to compete in horse shows myself. I know how it feels to not get any pictures. 

Over the years I've been able to add more photographers to the Sunkist team to produce even more of your memories at horse shows. 


As much as photographing horse shows may be my favourite, I also enjoy doing portrait sessions, weddings and mostly anything I can get creative with. In the early months of 2023, I completed Shelley Paulson's WINGS Mentorship. This left me eager to book more portrait sessions and I'm excited to put my new knowledge to work! I am also working on expanding my knowledge on videography, something I have always hoped to one day offer as a service.


Weddings


At the start of 2020, photographing weddings was in the question but I didn't know where to start.


In June 2020, I was asked to stand in for another photographer . At the time, I had never even been to a wedding, so although I was confident I could manage, I went into a deep dive and learned everything I could! Not only learning Wedding Photography, but I didn't even know the difference between a Ceremony and a Reception!


I was so stressed out, didn't have a second photographer and I wore all black on a very humid day! My plan going in was "take pictures of everything", which in the end worked in my favour!

After a fun, long day, I got home and was overjoyed with all the memories I captured.


While I wasn't actively booking weddings, the brother of the groom from my first wedding reached out and informed me he got engaged. They were looking for a photographer and after seeing my work, I had another Wedding booked!


In the mix of photographing these weddings, I noticed myself starting to fall in love with capturing these memories that I hope my clients can treasure. As an individual that loves deep connections, I thrive off documenting each couples unique relationship.
